i keep looking up for your face in the stars but constellations have only ever looked like spoons to me     by Stephen Michael McDowell

distance is perceptual and not conceptual
when you consider where and what and how
[close we are to each other]

i wonder sometimes
if a human viewed from a small enough space
is globular in shape
and its limbs, extensions, and manipulabile faculties,
needlessly aroused
by flailing and bumping around against each other,
are insignificant compared
to the magnetism of our brains

what if a horizon is just
two brains bashing against each other
